Helanthium tenellum 'Broad' is a charming and versatile foreground plant that produces attractive, slightly broader leaves than the standard tenellum form, giving it a lush, grass-like appearance that works beautifully in both small nano tanks and larger aquascapes. Native to North and South America, it is one of the easiest foreground plants to grow, spreading readily via runners to form a natural, flowing carpet without the demanding requirements of many other carpeting species.

Tips for Success

Plant individual stems or small clumps spaced 1–2 cm apart directly into the substrate. Helanthium tenellum 'Broad' spreads quickly via runners and will fill in to form a lush foreground carpet. It adapts well to a wide range of lighting conditions, though higher light and CO₂ will produce faster, more compact growth. Trim occasionally to keep the carpet tidy and prevent older leaves from shading out new growth. An excellent choice for beginners and experienced aquascapers alike.
