Cryptocoryne lucens is a compact and elegant Cryptocoryne species native to Sri Lanka. It produces narrow, lance-shaped leaves of a rich, glossy dark green that form a tidy, low-growing rosette. Its small stature and undemanding nature make it one of the best Cryptocorynes for foreground and midground use, particularly in smaller aquariums where larger Crypt species would quickly overwhelm the layout.

Why Tissue Culture?

Our tissue culture plants are grown in sterile laboratory conditions, meaning they arrive:

  • Free from pesticides and harmful chemicals
  • Free from snails, planarians, and pest algae
  • Free from pathogens and parasites
  • No rock wool to remove — just rinse and plant

Tips for Success

Like all Cryptocorynes, lucens may experience a period of leaf melt after planting as it adjusts to aquarium conditions — this is completely normal and healthy new growth will emerge shortly after. It thrives in low to medium light without CO₂, making it an excellent choice for low-tech and beginner setups. Plant in a nutrient-rich substrate and leave undisturbed to establish. Once settled, it will slowly spread via runners to form a neat, attractive grouping.
