"Rainbow Alexis" is a highly sought-after, premium Bucephalandra variant prized in the aquarium hobby for its large leaves and striking, multi-coloured iridescence. 
Physical Appearance
  • The Leaves: It features broad, oval-to-oblong leaves that are significantly larger than standard or "mini" Buce strains. The leaf surfaces are thick, glossy, and typically exhibit elegantly ruffled or wavy margins.
  • The "Rainbow" Effect: When grown submerged under high-quality RGB LED aquarium lighting, the mature foliage transforms from a basic green or olive into a deep, dark metallic hue. It reflects a spectrum of oil-slick colours, including shifting shades of deep purple, metallic blue, magenta, and copper-maroon. 
  • Stomata Dots: Up close, the leaf surfaces are speckled with tiny white dots (stomata) that sparkle underwater, catching the light like stars against the dark foliage. 
  • The Stems: Its thick, creeping rhizomes and new stem growth frequently blush with a vibrant, intense red or pink coloration.
